Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica Episode 9: "I Can't Forgive That Kind of Thing"

Homura and Kyoko escape from Sayaka's witch realm with Sayaka's body.

I'm going to take this episode's pre-review segment to promote my favorite artist: Ayumi Hamasaki.
Go listen to her.
OH WAIT
You already are ;D

Madoka cries over Sayaka's dead body while Kyoko yells at Homura.

~story~

So.... Kyoko apparently killed herself. You can say she "sacrificed herself to save Sayaka" but no. She did not saving. She killed herself and now instead of having one witch and two magical girls there are two witches and one magical girl. Good frickin job. Even better - now Homura is alone to fight the gigantic mega-witch that's coming like next episode and Madoka is going to HAVE to become a magical girl! Kyoko - you officially suck. Kyuube's plan has worked out and Homura is mega-pissed. We also get the background on the Incubator Society and how the magical girls came to be and more background on them. And we realize what a tricky little freak Kyuube is by tricking Kyoko into thinking that she actually had a chance to save Sayaka. The first half of today's episode was rather dull but after the break it really picked up the pace and moved along nicely. It's always the action-y parts that move really nice and the slow informative parts really bore me XDXD

Kyuube tells Madoka about the Incubator Society and the truth about Magical Girls.

~art~

I really liked that Sayaka's witch fight was really symbolic with all of the violins and the music and everything. I really hated the art style they used though. Guess we can't win them all, can we?

Kyoko proposes a plan to Madoka to possibly save Sayaka.

~sound~

So the ending theme was gone and we're back to playing music with a scene just like in the first two episodes. And I'm glad. I couldn't take "Magia" for another episode.

Sayaka's Witch.

~character~

Kyuube has officially established himself as the villain of the series because he tricked into Kyoko into going to fight Sayaka because he told her that there could possibly be a way to save Sayaka but then later he told Homura that there was no possible way to save Sayaka so Kyoko was deceived yet again and died without ever realizing the deception that had taken place. Kyoko let her emotions get the best of her and she ended up killing herself which has ruined everything Homura has been working towards. Kyoko could have easily (especially with Homura's help) killed Sayaka's witch and then they both would be there for the evil mega-witch and they would both know Kyuube's deception and then there would be no need for Madoka to become a magical girl. But no. As of this episode Madoka is still helpless and useless and really is of no use but to sit in the back and cry her precious little human eyes to sleep.  Tally count: We've lost three out of the four magical girls plus one wanna be magical girl. And the series finale hasn't even begun yet. That is definitely something new in a magical girl series XD

Kyoko sacrificing herself.

~overall~

This episode receives a B+. It's just not as good as some of the previous episodes. However, the finale is just around the corner and all the loose ends shall be tied and everything shall be revealed and yeah.
