Revolutionary Girl Utena Episode 4: "The Sunlit Garden -Prelude-"

Sorry for no posts yesterday!
Kinda busy hehehee
But that's allright!
We DO have lives outside of this blog (surprising I know o_O)

Mickey playing the piano.

~story~

Another filler episode. That makes two in a row. The first half of this episode was extremely boring. It just dragged on and on and moved at such a slow pace. I kept staring at the time bar just praying that it would move faster and that the episode would just end. Mickey (the previously unnamed blue-haired boy) plays piano for a good portion of this episode. After the break they get into this study group and Nanami's jealousy really shines and brings this episode to life. This study group is one of the most hilarious scenes so far in this anime. Nanami is such an unlikable character but I love her just for creating this hilarious scene. All of the animals that Anthy has just stashed in the random parts of her room is so cute and creative and funny XD She's such a airhead yet so smart. Too bad she thinks too harshly on herself :|

Anthy gets slapped by Nanami's friends.

Nothing new to comment on here.

Mickey playing piano with his sister.

~sound~

Mickey plays the same song on the piano during this episode. It is played over and over again and it's already a repetitive song so having it played multiple times was just annoying. And it's not even that good of a song to begin with.

The snails in Anthy's pencil box.

~character~

Unlike the original thoughts of Mickey in episode one (that he was a psychotic child) he is actually pretty level-headed and it turns out that he is a big sweetheart. He's really just the most adorable thing ever with his little crush on Anthy. It's really cute ^^ Nanami is in fact the true psychotic one in this group of characters. Insanely jealous over not only her brother (incestuous much) but over Mickey as well (that, my friends, is what is called a "slut" here in America). The two shadow girls were even more out of place in today's episode than they usually are because there wasn't even a battle in this episode (except in the first part which was more of a preview to the battle that will inevitably be in the next episode). Also, the little skit they performed didn't relate to the episode at all so they were probably there just to fill up some time. That's the only reasoning I could come up with anyways.

Nanami's rage explodes.

~overall~

This episode receives a B-. While the second half was certainly hilarious, it was still a filler and the beginning was just too extremely slow. Hopefully next episode will pick up the pace or stay as hilarious as this study group was.

Mickey realizes that Anthy plays the same song that he does.

~prediction diary~

-I do NOT predict that Anthy is Mickey's long, lost sister. She is obviously of a different race and she is older than him so she can't be his younger sister. Yet how does she know the same song and have the same tone as his sister?
-Mickey will decide that he loves Anthy and will duel Utena for her to be his bride (which goes against everything he said this episode but WHATEVER)
-Mickey's past will be revelead

See you next time~
