Revolutionary Girl Utena Episode 3: "On the Night of the Ball"

So I can confirm that today's episode was most definitely a filler. But it wasn't too bad of a filler. As long as they move fast and the next 15 episodes aren't fillers I'll be fine. Kinda sad we have a filler so early on in the series with pretty much nothing explained though... Anyways - Touga (the red haired leader) has finally made his move on Utena (but no "Oh yeah baby" D:). Utena's like "LOLno" and blows him off. Meanwhile, Nanami (who is revealed to be Touga's sister) fake friends Anthy and invites her to the school dance where a mean trap is a-waiting her. Nanami gives Anthy a dress where if it gets wet it shrivels up and breaks leaving the person wearing it naked. Well, Nanami has it planned out for Anthy's dress to get wet and it does indeed get wet. But Utena is there to save the day! She makes a dress out of a tablecloth (LOL like thats possible) and everything is good. Utena finally got her wish to come true! She finally was able to be a prince saving her princess. Through all of the lies and sneakiness in this episode it did manage to be a rather cute and fun episode.

There was no insert song in today's episode! Thank the heavens! I was getting worried that this was going to be a regular thing~ But there was also no battle scene... Maybe it's only in episodes where they fight? We're going to have to wait for another episode where they fight to answer that question.

Touga is a player. Hardcore. He's a manwhore. His sister, Nanami, was introduced in this episode. She has her head screwed on the wrong way. She has this incestuous obsession with her brother and she has this nasty streak of jealousy that is so incredibly strong that it pretty much takes over her life. Saionji has gone into full-blown depression all because he lost the "love of his life" Anthy (cause I would totally slap the love of my life around and order her to do things she doesn't want to do). Anthy has got to be most un-socially-inept person out there. She feels uncomfortable wearing such a revealing dress in public, but instead of going and changing or doing SOMETHING she decides to sit there and mope around. OH and she refuses to make friends with anything that's not Chu-Chu. And the shadow idiots were unnecessary as usual.

This episode receives a B. It was a fun episode and it moved pretty quick but it really didn't do anything to the main storyline except for introduce Nanami and show how messed up her and her brother are.
