Revolutionary Girl Utena Episode 7: "Unfilfilled Jury"

Sorry for no posts yesterday!
Swiko was away and we have to be together to do our blog (:
It's a rule!
:'D

Jury during her fencing practice

~story~

This story didn't move slow at all (unlike last episode). It had very nice pacing and I was interested throughout all of it (minus a few select scenes but overall very good job). This episode centered directly on Jury and we learn all about her past which involved a love triangle (yuck). She and her two friends (a boy and a girl) all fenced together and the girl loved the guy who loved Jury who loved the girl and the girl thought Jury loved the guy but she loved the guy and she didn't care about Jury so she ruined her and the guy's friendship with Jury so that she could be with the guy and it's just messy and dumb and anyways the boy and the girl pretty much screwed over Jury and she turned into this cold evil girl and never got over it. Later on, she got pissed at Utena because she didn't think Utena had a good enough reason to have a Rose Seal and to have control of the Rose Bride and to be involved in the dueling and she tried to take Utena's Seal from her but Utena was like "Girl, please" and fought back. Then they dueled (shocker there) and Utena won (again - shocker there). Nothing has really been answered yet about the revolution that is to come or what exactly End of the World is so that's all still a big mystery up in the air.

Utena and Jury talk.

~art~

One big improvement took place this episode. During the climatic point of the battle it showed all the action and there was no spinning rose to censor or whatever it does during the battle. Great step in the right direction!

A letter from "End of the World" says Jury will duel next.

~sound~

Nothing to comment on here except for the fact that the insert songs still suck and for some reason the ending theme played twice?

The girl Jury fell in love with.

~character~

This episode focused heavily on Jury and she was the only real character to have screen time (besides the duel) and she got the only real development. The first few episodes show Jury as this happy and lovely girl but it turns out that she is in actuality this cold-hearted angry lesbian that is pissed about everything and everyone screwing her over. The shadow characters made some reference to going to the zoo which really made no sense and I'm sick and tired of seeing them on screen and I hope that somebody takes a bullet to their head before I take one to mine from seeing them in the episodes to come. The Student Council is still sketchy and confusing with their whole "End of the World" campaign that no one really seems to understand. If I started getting random letters from this person named "End of the World" telling me to fight each other to control another person (LOL slavery) so that I could revolutionize the world I would probably throw it away and go sit down and review some anime and talk about the letter in the opening segment to my review.

Jury tries to take the Rose Seal from Utena.

~overall~

This episode receives a B-. While it did give us insight to the life of Jury, it really did nothing to help further along the main story.

Utena -vs- Jury

~prediction diary~

-The next episode is 100% going to be a filler
-The dialogue in the preview may or may not relate to the next episode
