Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica Episode 5: "There's No Way I Would Regret It"

Sayaka accepts her fate and becomes a Magical Girl.

(insert opening paragraph here)

Kamijo plays his violin on the roof of the hospital.

~story~

So the story is only getting better and better as it develops. Unfortunately, the first half of this episode was rather dull and it was mostly about how Sayaka used her wish to save Kyosuke (that's apparently his name since it wans't that last episode. Maybe it's a last name? Inconisntences<3) and he plays his violin again (it was supposed to be all dramatic but it really wasn't). Once Kyoko showed up and started beating the crap outta Sayaka was where things really got interesting. Things were getting good but Madoka started being the little baby she is and was just about to sign the contract (which Homura warned her yet again not to do - maybe she should not do it? If somebody that made that mistake tells you not to do it why would you do it? Madoka really is losing brain cells as time goes on) but Homura shows up to save the day. Also, we learn that Homura is "irregular" because Kyuube doesn't remember if Homura signed the contract to become a magical girl or not. Hmm..... interesting.

Madoka and Homura discuss Sayaka's decision to become a Magical Girl.

~art~

This section really doesn't change much episode to episode. The art for the witch was taken from the first episode but the witch scene was maybe 30 seconds long so it really isn't that important.

Kyoko ambushes Sayaka.

~sound~

This is pretty much the same as the art section. Every episode is basically the same. No new songs. Though it should be noted that the music keeps on getting more dark and serious in tone. The violin song that Kyosuke played was rather annoying in my opinion, too.

Sayaka and Kyoko battle.

~character~

Kyoko is just a bad person all around. Her morals and values are totally out of whack and she is probably one of the greediest people on the planet. I don't know about you, but I personally wouldn't let random people suffer terrible deaths just so that I can gather some Grief Seed that (as of this point in the story) don't really seem to do much. Madoka pretty much needs Homura to hold her hand in every situation because the moment anything seems to go wrong Kyuube is there (Kyuube is obviously sketchy and corrupt at this point. He's all friendly with Madoka and Sayaka but then he goes around and is super friendly with Kyoko - he's evil) to convince her to become a magical girl and she almost does it. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.

Homura intercepts the fight.

~overall~

This episode receives an A-. It was rather dull but the fighting at the end was really intense and I was on the edge of my seat. Maybe next episode we finally learn about Homura's past? Or maybe Kyoko dies. Hopefully. Take Kyuube with her while you're at it.
