Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica Episode 6: "This Just Isn't Right"

Sayaka cleans her Soul Gem.

Hey again!
What's crackin??
Well this is going to be the last post of the night
Madoka is halfway over!
And so far this is the best series we've reviewed
Although with that logic it's also the worst...

Homura approaches Kyoko while she's playing DDR to tell her to leave Sayaka alone so that everything can be solved quietly.

~story~

This is probably second to the debut episode for the dullest. It just took so long for it to get going. It really dragged for quite some time. And when it did get going it just didn't have that intense factor that the past episodes had. However, this episode really explained quite a bit. There was no witch scene by the way. We learn that pretty much every magical girl has been deceived by Kyuube. When they sign the contract Kyuube basically rips their soul out of their body and places it into the Soul Gem. So they're bodies are basically indestructible and they don't die unless the Soul Gem breaks or if they get too far away from the Gem. OH and he does this without telling them. :D That's like marrying someone and then them telling you "OH HEY I'm in debt $2,000,000 and since we're married now YOU ARE TOO LOL :'D" Yeah, no. I'd kill somebody.

Madoka confronts Sayaka and tries to convince her to ally with Kyoko.

~art~

Kyoko's costume has got to be the worst out of all of the girl's so far. It's not very appealing (however her super awesome weapon definitely makes up for lack of super awesome costume). Homura's costume is a little too plain for my tastes, but she's just too awesome that nobody cares.

Sayaka and Kyoko prepare to fight.

~sound~

There was this really cool remix of "Connect" (that's the opening theme in case you didn't know) that played while Kyoko was playing a variation of DDR in the arcade. I prefer this dance remix to the original but whatever.

Sayaka dead.

~character~

Madoka finally is given a pretty good reason to cry in this episode. Her best friend of forever just basically died in front of her eyes. Oh and it was her fault. I'd be pretty upset too. So I can't blame her today. Kyoko is still the unlikable character as always, but the moment she found out that she had been deceived and lied to and tricked by Kyuube I think she realized that everything isn't alright (and she looked like she was about ready to murder Kyuube so she wins bonus points with me). Homura seems to know for some reason exactly what is happening and exactly how to deal with every situation. Maybe she's from the future? Who knows. Sayaka is still an emotional wreck who is in love with this guy who obviously doesn't care enough to tell her that he got discharged from the hospital that she visits him at on a daily basis. Good to know that she wasted her one wish (and basically gave her life) for him to be able to play his beloved violin again.

Kyoko raising Kyuube about ready to kill him.

~overall~

This episode receives an A-. It was just too dull but there was some great story and character development. Next episode should be great~
